Georgian College is hosting an open house on Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. An open house is a day when members of the public, potential students and their friends and family, are invited to visit. Georgian College is a College of Applied Arts and Technology. The College has seven campus sites to choose from (Barrie, Midland, Muskoka, Orangeville, Orillia, Owen Sound and South Georgian Bay). The open house is taking place at all 7 campuses. Each location is offering tours of their facilities during the event. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions about housing, the application process, books, financial aid, awards and scholarships. COATS 4 KIDS are collecting donations. Gently used winter coats, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens are being pulled together to donate to those in need this fall. All donations will be provided to people living in this area. Drop off boxes for items can be found at grocery stores in Hanover and schools in Durham, Walkerton, Hanover, Ayton, Mildmay and Chepstow. This spring, when you are cleaning out your closets please think about keeping local children warm next winter. All donation to “COATS 4 KIDS” are GREATLY appreciated.

LEAD is a FREE home study English language education program. It is funded by Citizenship & Immigration Canada and delivered by the Centre for Education & Training. The courses are offered to newcomers that are able to study on their own but unable to attend English classes. The program allows you to study online or by correspondence. Victim Services is a community based not-for-profit program that provides supportive outreach services to victims and their families following any type of crime or tragic circumstance. A Victim is someone whose individual rights have been broken by a criminal, violent or aggressive act. Any time of the day or night, every day of the year, Victim Services can provide immediate confidential emotional support. They also offer community referrals for victims to obtain long-term support. Victim Services manages a number of programs in the area including the Victim Quick Response Program, Family Court Support, Suicide Support and Grief Services. Victim Services are leaders in crisis support and they work to educate and promote awareness about victimization in the area. VPI is holding a Community Job Fair in Walkerton on Wednesday March 25, 2015. A job fair is an event that people attend if they are looking for work. People looking for a job go to these events to get information about companies that are hiring and to meet potential employers in person with the hopes of making a good impression. The Walkerton job fair is being held at the Walkerton District Community School from 5pm until 7pm. There is another job fair happening in Wiarton at the Wiarton Arena on March 11 from 5pm until 8pm.
