Salmon Celebration

Experience the fall migration of the Georgian Bay salmon heading upstream to spawn October 1, 2016 from 1-4 pm at the Owen Sound Mill Dam and Fish ladder. The event will feature live music and tasting of salmon prepared by Chef Zach Keeshig and students from Georgian College’s culinary program. The Sydenham Sportsmen’s association and Grey Sauble Conservation will be attending the day to provide information regarding salmon migration and their hatchery operations. Rabies Vaccine Voucher

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is offering Rabies Vaccine Vouchers to residents that can’t afford to vaccinate their pets. In Ontario pet owners are legally required to keep dogs and cats vaccinated for rabies, a rare viral central nervous system infection that can be transferred to humans through the bite of an infected animal. Vaccination protects pets from infection with rabies and also helps protect family members if a pet is exposed to the virus. Starting a Food Business

Georgian College is hosting Starting a Food Business in Collingwood at the South Georgian Bay Campus on September 26 from 9 am to noon. This workshop is FREE but registration for the event is required and space is limited. The workshop instructor, Amy Bracco is a food business expert. Amy will be explaining the  essential steps to start a food based business as well as guidelines for food safety, food inspection protocols and government regulations. Participants will be presented with an opportunity to ask Amy questions about the food industry and business ideas.
