Winter weather conditions can change quickly in Canada. It is important that you stay informed about approaching winter weather hazards so you can keep yourself and your family prepared in the event of a winter storm. Winter weather watches and warnings can be found on the Environment Canada Web Site. The Ontario Provincial Police recommend that when a storm warning is issued you properly prepare for the event. Before heading out on the roads in the winter it is wise to contact the Ministry of Transportation Ontario for a report by dialing 511 or linking into Winter Road Conditions. The local radio stations are also a great resource during a storm as they provide regular update on weather conditions and warnings as well as information about local road conditions, closures and cancellations school and local of events.
