Let’s Learn Kindergarten Registration


Let’s Learn Kindergarten Registration for the 2016 school year is taking place in October and November in Bruce-Grey. This registration is for children born in 2011 and 2012 who will be starting school for the first time. The Let’s Learn program gives children and their families an opportunity to visit the school to meet with school staff, preschool resource teachers and other professionals from various children’s programs and services in the community. To register for a Let’s Learn session contact the school your child will be going to in 2016 to schedule a time for you and your child to attend. Keady Market

The Keady Market is an outdoor market that takes place rain or shine every Tuesday from 7am to 1pm. The Livestock auction begins at 9am.  At times up to 250 vendors can be found at the market selling a wide variety of produce, deli meats, crafts and home baking. The Keady Market is s a unique experience that helps connect you with the Farmers and Producers who feed you. Supporting your local market is an easy way to obtain locally grown healthy foods while supporting your community. The Keady Market is located in Keady Ontario at the intersection of Grey Road 3 and Grey County Road 16. Canada Day is celebrated on July 1st. The event is commemorated in Canada with fireworks, concerts and holiday celebrations.There are numerous activities taking place around the area over the next couple of days. Join the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store Wed June 17-19 from 3-7 pm to shop for some fantastic deals. The store is located in Owen Sound beside Kia and across from Walmart at 1698 18th Ave E, Owen Sound ON. The Bibles for Mission Thrift Store sells high quality donated goods such as clothing, housewares, books, furniture, and TVs. This provides the community with a way of recycling items that they no longer use. Some of the items being offered at the sale are bags of books for $1.00, bags of clothing for $2.00 and small appliances for $5.00. A bargain hunters dream! Community Job Fairs

VPI is holding a Community Job Fair in Walkerton on Wednesday March 25, 2015. A job fair is an event that people attend if they are looking for work. People looking for a job go to these events to get information about companies that are hiring and to meet potential employers in person with the hopes of making a good impression. The Walkerton job fair is being held at the Walkerton District Community School from 5pm until 7pm. There is another job fair happening in Wiarton at the Wiarton Arena on March 11 from 5pm until 8pm. VPI Complete Employment Solutions is the Bruce County Service provider for Employment Ontario programs. They are funded in part by the government of Canada. With a cold winter on the way, the need for warm winter clothing is great. Fall is the perfect time to tidy your coat closet before winter arrives! Volunteers in Grey Bruce have organized coat drives to collect quality snow pants, hats, mitts, and boots to give away to anyone that needs them. On October 18, 2014 from 8:30am to 1 pm, Coats 4 Kids is giving away warm winter apparel, to families at the Masonic Hall (behind Shoppers Drug Mart) The group is still accepting used winter items. Contact Marg Kerr at 519-364-3768 for more information. Grey Bruce Winter Coat Drive is presently accepting donations of gently used winter outerwear. Donations can be dropped off at Douglas Cleaners in Owen Sound. Clothing can be picked up at Douglas Cleaners after the Owen Sound Santa Claus Parade, on Saturday Nov 15, 2014. After this date, articles can be picked up at the United Way in Owen Sound.

Farmers Market Season 2014

There are a wide range of fabulous farmers markets to discover this summer in Bruce and Grey County. Each Farmers Market reflects the diverse neighborhoods that host them. Explore Skilled Trades

Skilled trades are jobs that are done with your hands such as construction, plumbing, and welding. The Owen Sound Georgian College Campus offers one and two-year full-time programs that train people to become skilled trades workers. The College is hosting a Trades Open House in Owen Sound on Saturday June 14th. College staff will be available at this event to answer questions and to provide information about local job opportunities in the skilled trades.
