Telehealth Ontario is a confidential telephone services that provides health advice or general health information from a registered nurse. The service is FREE for residents of Ontario and you DO NOT need a health insurance number to access assistance . People that call telehealth can get advice about health-related matters such as health symptoms, illness, and injury. Telehealth offers information in English and French, and translation support is available for other languages. Telehealth Ontario is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Looking for a Doctor

Finding a family doctor is important because they supply general health care for non-emergency medical conditions for you and your family. A family physician will also provide a referral to specialists and order medical and laboratory tests when needed. To locate a family doctor in Bruce Grey you can register with Health Care Connect 1-800-445-1822 a government of Ontario Service developed to help people find a family doctor or you may try the Doctor Search Service from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Try asking friends or family members if their doctor is accepting new patients or contact one of the following Family Health Teams in your area to make an inquiry.

EYE SEE EYE LEARN PROGRAM

Eye See… Eye Learn is a program provided by optometrists to junior kindergarten students in Ontario. Optometrist in the area are offering free eye exams to children starting school and Free glasses to those children that need them . This is a new program for Bruce and Grey County. There is no cost to have your child’s eyes examined when you show your child’s health card. Trillium Drug Program

The Trillium Drug Program is a program offered by the government of Ontario to help with the costs of prescription drugs. If you are not on social assistance and you do not have private health insurance, or your private health insurance does not cover 100% of your drug costs, you can apply to the program to help pay for the cost of prescription medications. Applicants must live in Ontario and have a Ontario health card. If you are eligible, you will have to pay a deductible based on your household income. Applications for the program are available at your local pharmacy or by calling 1-800-575-5386. Dental For Kids

Healthy Smiles Ontario is a government-funded dental program for children 17 and under who do not have access to any form of dental coverage. To qualify for this program you need to be a resident of Ontario, the net income of your household must be $20,000 per year or below and you can not have access to any form of dental coverage.

South East Grey Community Health Centre

The South East Grey Community Health Centre is a non-profit organization that provides primary care services and health programs to the residents of the Municipalities of Chatsworth, Grey Highlands, Southgate and West Grey. Health Services are provided by Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Worker, Registered Dietitian, Physiotherapist, Chiropodist, Health Promoter, and Community Developer.

The South East Grey Community Health Centre provides health services to individuals with no family doctor or whose doctor is out of region, seniors, children and youth, the economically disadvantaged, individuals with mental illness/addictions, people with mental and physical disabilities and pregnant women and families.
